The Kensington area is a must see for any tourist visiting Toronto. The Kensington Market is a historic site where many of the city’s first merchants set up shop in the early part of the 20th century. There are some very unique, independent restaurants, shops and cafes in the area, you won’t find many chain restaurants or corporate presence in Kensington. This area is definitely home to many Toronto hipsters and you will find lots of vegan dining options that cater to this crowd. Parking in Kensington can be difficult, there are a few underground parking lots and a couple above ground lots. Many of these are not convenient when accessing Kensington Market, so street parking tends to be the preferred choice of people visiting the Kensington area.
